Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Collaboration with Canley Heights PS
Stage 3 concluded their Unit of Inquiry project by welcoming our wonderful partners from Canley Heights PS to our school.
Our students proudly showcased the prototypes they designed to support someone newly arrived in Australia — creations that were designed using ideas formed with Cally Heights students at the start of the term.
The visit continued with our students sharing the migration poems they’ve been writing. After that, everyone headed to the oval to enjoy a series of Indigenous games.
We wrapped up this fantastic day of learning and community with a cultural food share, celebrating the diversity that enriches our school. Thank you to all the families for taking the time to cook up a storm - we were all very well fed!
A huge thank you to Canley Heights PS for collaborating with us this term — we can’t wait to work together again!
Illawong Community in Action
Over the past week, our Toys & Tucker Drive has been an incredible reminder of the kindness and generosity that exists within our Illawong community. The response has been overwhelming — donations have poured in, filling boxes with gifts and essentials that will make a real difference to families in need this Christmas.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Brunero and her dedicated SRC team, whose leadership, organisation and enthusiasm drove this initiative from start to finish. Their commitment to service and compassion truly embodies the values we strive to instil at Illawong Public School.
To every student, family and staff member who contributed: thank you for showing what community spirit looks like in action.
Game Changer Challenge
Congratulations to Isabelle, Keira, Sophie, Elissa and Jia for representing our school at the Game Change Challenge Grand Final!
The team has spent the past three days at the NSW Department of Education head office in Parramatta working with industry experts from companies such as Apple, Canva and Google. They designed and pitched their idea for a biodegradable composter that can generate electricity and power our school.
Every team in the competition showcased their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills as they tackled this year’s theme of creating sustainable solutions for the future. It was an incredible honour to be selected to be amongst such talented students and an experience they will never forget.
