Working out of 'the cupboard' for so many years was challenging, both for volunteers as well as customers. It has been a vision for many years to move location of the shop. Every option had been explored, however, nothing within school grounds was deemed suitable. In 2016 Illawong P&C applied for a Community Building Patnership, a grant funded through the state government. The application was successful and as they say, the rest is history.
Our official Uniform Shop Grand Opening took place on Friday 27 July 2018. Attendees included Ms J.Birch - Illawong Public School Principal, Ms Eleni Petinos - local MP, Mrs M.Elkin - P&C President, P&C comittee members, administrative and teaching staff, students, volunteers, parents and grandparents.
Built around a shipping container, the Uniform Shop boasts a fresh, modern look, mirrored change area, ramp access and large sheltered verandah.
Visitors to the Uniform Shop are served by a team of dedicated volunteers who now boast an organised storage system and massive bench space. EFTPOS facilities are available for purchases as well as online ordering and payment systems.
Access to the Uniform Shop is via the path alongside C Block and past the orchard. If you haven't visited the shop yet, come down and say hello, maybe even enquire about volunteering !!
